MEET YOUR Director
Sharon Hood
Founder and Director of Kobe’s Harmony Home INC.
Sharon Hood
Sharon Hood is the Founder and President of Kobe’s Harmony Home, a mission born from love, lived experience, and an unwavering commitment to improving the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
As the mother of Kobe, Sharon has spent years navigating educational systems, support services, healthcare providers, and long-term planning decisions that many families of individuals with disabilities face. Along the way, she experienced both the challenges and the triumphs that come with advocating for a loved one while searching for services that truly honor the dignity and potential of every individual.
Those experiences inspired Sharon to create something greater than a program—they inspired her to build a community. A place where individuals are supported, families are understood, and care is delivered with compassion, respect, and purpose.
Sharon's vision for Kobe’s Harmony Home extends beyond providing services. She believes individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities deserve opportunities to thrive, meaningful connections within their communities, and environments that feel safe, welcoming, and empowering. She also believes families deserve peace of mind, knowing their loved ones are valued and supported by people who genuinely care.
Through Kobe’s Harmony Home and the KHH Circle of Strength, Sharon is dedicated to creating resources, support systems, and future opportunities that strengthen individuals, families, and communities across New Jersey.
At the heart of everything she does is a simple belief: every individual deserves to be seen, respected, supported, and given the opportunity to live a fulfilling life.
Founder Q & A
-
Kobe’s Harmony Home was created from my personal journey as a mother navigating the world of intellectual and developmental disability services. Through my experiences advocating for my son, I saw both the strengths and the gaps within the system. I wanted to build something that reflected what families truly need—support, dignity, understanding, and a real sense of home.
-
What drives me is simple: I understand what it feels like to love someone and want the very best for their future, while also trying to navigate systems that can feel overwhelming. Every decision I make is rooted in making life easier, more supportive, and more hopeful for other families walking a similar path.
-
I hope people feel heard, supported, and understood. More than anything, I want families to know they are not alone in this journey. My goal is to create a space where people feel comfortable asking questions, sharing concerns, and trusting that they are being met with compassion and honesty.
