Hi, I’m Sharon Hood.

About the Founder

Kobe’s Harmony Home was founded by Sharon Hood, a mother, advocate, and builder of something she once wished already existed.

Like many families navigating the world of intellectual and developmental disabilities, Sharon’s journey began with love—but quickly became a crash course in systems, services, and decisions no parent is ever truly prepared to make. Through years of learning how to advocate, navigate care structures, and plan for long-term stability, she experienced both the strength of community support and the reality of how many families are left searching for more.

What stayed with her was not just the complexity of the system, but the emotional weight carried by families trying to make the right decisions with limited clarity and limited options. She saw how often parents and caregivers were forced to choose between what was available and what they truly hoped for their loved one’s future.

Kobe’s Harmony Home was born from that lived experience.

It is more than an organization—it is a response to a need she could no longer ignore. A need for residential environments that feel like home, where individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities are treated with dignity, patience, and genuine respect. A need for spaces that prioritize belonging over placement, and quality of life over minimum standards.

Today, Sharon is building Kobe’s Harmony Home with a clear purpose: to create supportive, person-centered living environments where individuals are seen fully, families are supported deeply, and care is delivered with intention.

This work is personal. It is rooted in experience. And it is guided by one belief:

Everyone deserves a place where they are not just supported—but truly at home.

Person-Centered Care Looks Like...

At Kobe’s Harmony Home, person-centered care means recognizing that every individual is unique, with their own strengths, preferences, goals, and dreams. Rather than focusing on limitations, we focus on the person—their voice, their choices, and what matters most to them.

Person-centered care looks like:

  • Listening to and respecting each individual's preferences and choices

  • Supporting independence while providing assistance when needed

  • Encouraging participation in meaningful community activities

  • Building on strengths rather than focusing on challenges

  • Creating opportunities for personal growth and skill development

  • Treating every individual with dignity, respect, and compassion

  • Collaborating with families, caregivers, and support teams

  • Celebrating achievements, both big and small

  • Providing support that is tailored to the individual, not a one-size-fits-all approach

  • Empowering individuals to have a voice in decisions that affect their lives

At its core, person-centered care means meeting people where they are, honoring who they are, and supporting them in building the life they want to live. At Kobe’s Harmony Home, we believe every individual deserves to be seen, heard, valued, and empowered. 💚💛

Dream it

Don’t worry about asking for too much. You get to decide how you spend your life just like everyone else.

Build it

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your dreams can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does. Let’s decide what you like and lets do that thing!
